Barum introduces Quartaris 6: next-generation all-season tire with improved winter traction and wear performance

  • Enhanced snow traction and braking performance in mixed conditions
  • Optimized tread design for improved wear and mileage
  • Developed for electric and conventional vehicle applications

Hannover, June 2026. Barum is expanding its all-season portfolio with the new Quartaris 6. The latest generation tire has been developed to improve winter traction, braking stability and wear performance under year-round operating conditions.

“With the Quartaris 6, we focused on further optimizing key performance parameters for all-season use,” says Erika Rapčanová, Lead Development Engineer. “The tire combines improved winter capability with stable dry and wet braking characteristics, while delivering consistent wear performance over its service life.”

The development of the Quartaris 6 focuses on three core areas: winter traction, braking performance and mileage.

A directional V-shaped tread pattern ensures strong grip on snow-covered roads, supported by a high density of sipes that enhances snow-to-snow traction. For dry and wet conditions, the new tread design increases stiffness and enlarges the contact area, supporting shorter braking distances on dry roads and consistent handling.

In addition, optimized polymer compounds working with silica enhance grip and braking performance on wet surfaces.

A redesigned tread layout ensures optimized force distribution across the footprint. This reduces tread wear and abrasion, resulting in higher mileage.

Efficiency was a further development target. The new tire construction reduces energy loss and improves rolling resistance, contributing to lower fuel consumption and extended range for electric vehicles.

Barum offers the Quartaris 6 in more than 50 sizes from the start of production, covering rim diameters from 15 to 20 inches. The range is designed to address a broad spectrum of vehicles, including compact cars, mid-size vehicles, electric vehicles, SUVs and crossovers.

Depending on size, the tire is approved for speeds of up to 300 km/h. Tire widths range from 165 to 255 millimeters, with aspect ratios between 60 and 35 percent.

On the EU tire label, most sizes achieve rolling resistance class C and wet braking class B. Noise class B applies across all sizes. All variants are marked with the EV symbol, indicating their suitability for electric vehicle applications.
